Remember how I said I’d post more often?  I have lots of good drafts in the works, but they’re getting overshadowed by the drafts of papers, short stories, and development binders that are due. This coming weekend is a really big one for me and I’d like to promise that I’ll post here more often after, since this marks the finish line of two major time sucks for me.  Yet it turns out finishing college is more work than I thought, even when you’re not in production on a film or traveling to a conference.  We’ll see.  The road to hell is paved with good intentions.  At least, as a wise man once said, hell ain’t a bad place to be.

So what am I doing this weekend?

FRIDAY: my thesis film premieres at my school’s theater.  I’m incredibly excited to celebrate the fruit of a our collective labor.  It was a year-long process that was full of challenges, but I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful team tackling them with me. I think we made a wonderful little movie and I can’t wait to share it with the world!  Filmmaking is a dynamic, complex process that continues to fascinate and inspire me and it’s touched on in many of my post drafts :).  Stay tuned and check out the TRAILER in the meantime.

SATURDAY: I will compete in the SCIAC Championship. Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (or, you know, SCIAC) is the conference Chapman joined just last year.  The Championship will be my last meet as a college athlete.   It might even be my last meet for a very long time.  As much as I love track (a lot), my future on a competitive team depends on my post graduation future (work hours/schedule/location/etc), so it is very unsure.  This is actually a 2-day meet, but I have to skip the first day for my screening.  Luckily, my favorite and strongest event, triple jump, is on Saturday.  Wish me luck!
