Happy Feet

I joined the herd.  After years of desiring and talking myself out of it (mostly because of the regular retail price of 80-100 bucks),I got myself a pair of Vibram Five Finger shoes (at 60% off Black Friday online sale).

They arrived on Monday evening and I instantly fell in love.

OK, my pinkies are still getting used to being separate from the other toes.  But my feet and calves are absolutely in love with the minimalist shoe.  I do most of my running workouts barefoot, so the adjustment is not very difficult for me.  Actually, I think I’ll continue running barefoot, and only wear this as my casual every-day shoe, which is kind of funny, considering that it is a running shoe. (I’ll wear it to the gym, though, and for trail running.)

On Tuesday, I was running late to class, so I had to wear regular shoes (putting the Five Fingers on still takes me a while), and I found them (my favorite sneakers) surprisingly uncomfortable.  After just less than a day in the Five Fingers, my calves cried to me to bring them back.

Now, I’m looking to buy another pair and wish to make the Five Fingers my primary footwear. I’ll need to find a way to make them warmer so that I can wear them for trail running in the snow and all such happiness.IMG_1936
